Santa Barbara


The  Santa Barbara International film festival is a non profit film festival and organization, which show  cases independent films from around the globe. The newly expanded 11 days festival was established in 1985. The world Famous Arlington Theatre plays host to the first and last night of the festival. The Film festival is for feature films and is not genre specific. Films featured come from well known and unknown directors. The Festivals draws in many celebrities.
The festival location has a historic roots in the film industry. It was were the once struggling studio nicknamed flying a was located, it was built on a abandon ostrich farm. Once the film studio began to improve with the arrival of Samuel Hutchinson they started making alot of short films with the average time 14minutes. The film company eventually got bigger and bigger until the great depression came and they had to close there doors.
Since the many famous films such as Sea biscuit and of mice and men have been has been made in the same area
The 10-10-10 feature of a the festival gives 10 students the chance to make a ten minute films which will be featured in the festival. Which is good because it gives young people a chance to get in the industry
The Santa Barbara films festivals has included 20 world premieres
